Anther short one today. Work has been nuts, but I did get some more time in on the blue box. Today was trying to get a camera to position on the character’s model. Not sure how successful that really was. Then after getting mostly there, I tried locating some movement scripts to see how to hook those up. I’m thinking my best option now is probably to reload the Lego and FPS demos and dig into exactly how they’ve rigged up the character models, so I can know what to look for.
Haven’t had time to lay X7 today. For whatever reason, that game just hasn’t been doing it for me. I think the semi-3D world system doesn’t work very well. It has an auto target system, but it only locks on vertically in the 2D sections, so if something is around a bend you can’t really hit it. And is just feels slower, even when you are pushing hard. It feels like throughout the X series, the speed and movement that started in the first few games has slowly drained out of the series until this point.
On other topics, I think I’m going to start doing Flying Circus again, probably on Fridays. I’ve been wanting to do a Bristol Fighter campaign, but I keep starting and stopping. This time, I’m thinking set up a campaign, and just fly a flight every Friday afternoon after work. The challenge has been finding a time when I could get enough of a contiguous time block to fly one without interruptions; the VR headset sleeps after about a minute off my head, and crashes the software if it does.
Anyways, off for the night for me…
